ILJA ILMAR NOVIKOV

A Computer Games Technology student from Estonia at Abertay University. My interest in gaming and computers began when I was three years old and staying at my friend's house in Plymouth. I was instantly driven by them once he showed me how to switch on the computer and where to browse for games. But, at the time, I wasn't sure which job path to choose because I was still too young.

Only as I approached the end of my senior year at school did I realize that my interests lie in the game industry. Because of my school research on philosophical problems in anime, I've learned that despite the odds and criticism of others around you, if you feel this is your field and your passion...Then go for it!

I had no prior coding skills when I started at Abertay. And now, looking back after only three years of education, I'm astounded at how much I've grown as a person. Student life became a new chapter, encouraging me to step outside of my comfort zone and take on new tasks and activities. I began playing volleyball, made many friends and colleagues, and broke down the language barrier, allowing me to feel secure in speaking English as a foreign language.

My future goals are to get into the industry, learn, and acquire more skills in order to narrow down a subject in which I would like to specialize.
